Chinese New Year 2017

On 31 January 2017,the New South Wales Multicultural Seniors Association held a big party to celebrate the traditional Chinese traditional festival, the Spring Festival, at Marrickville Town Hall. The hall was decorated with colour and lights and it was full of joy and laughter . It was also filled with a festive atmosphere. All the members of the Committee of the New South Wales Multicultural Seniors arrived at the Venue before 8:00am, and they were all preparing for the official start of the party. Also, they were busy distributing the seeds, candies and snacks for about 200 people who would come to the party. At 9:00am, everything was ready. Thank them for their selfless dedication and hard work, give them their point of praise!
It was the fourth day of the New Year’s Festival and people were still immersed in the festive of mood of joy. They came to the party in colourful costumes.
That day’s event included:
9:30 am – 12:00pm social dance
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Complimentary Lunch (Offering fresh handmade dumplings)
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Performances and social Dance.
The party ended after 4:00 o’clock pm.
At 9:00 in the morning, the party started ! You see our middle-aged friends dancing gracefully and how beautiful they are !  They were like pairs of butterflies flying among the flowers . Each person was wearing a happy smile.
People who were sitting at the table talking,    drinking coffee and tea, eating seeds, candies and  snacks.
They  looked so happy and relaxed. From their conversation, we knew all of them  were   very satisfied with the activities organized by MSA and that they hoped there will  be more large group activities.
Holding such a Grand party, every member of   the Committee tried their best to do their job. But the most important part is our audio, if the audio has problems, it will affect  the result of the the whole party. The sound  engineer was Jiaxing Dou. Dou is so great! The dance music played from the beginning to the end of the party without any defect and  there were dozens of dancers.
I want to let you in on a secret: Dou is not only a member of Committee and an excellent sound engineer, but  also he is our Presidents husband. This is what we often say, behind every successful  woman, there is a man who quietly pays!
Handmade dumplings for lunch were a hit with all the people who ate them. They were very delicious. On that day the temperature was more than 40 degrees. The kitchen was just like an oven. Dumplings were prepared by  Guiying Jiang and others. They were always busy cooking, but the dumplings were ever in short supply. If they open a dumpling  restaurant,    business will definitely be famous ! (Joke)
After lunch, President of MSA , Mrs Ge, had an excellent new year message and she received a round of applause!
At one o’clock in the afternoon , the performance we put on was greeted with a really remarkable applause! There were colourful costumes and a superb performance. It made us feel we were watching a fine arts performance.
The Chinese new year celebration ended with  applause and praise. We would like to thank everyone for coming and wish everyone to have a happy, healthy life and remain forever young!  We will meet again in 2018.
(Adds: After that many friends sent massages  to  Mrs Ge  to congratulate us on the Chinese new year party that was a complete success! They spoke highly both of the party, and of all the organisers.)

Happy Christmas Party

Dear members and friends:

Merry Christmas! At 8 am today, many volunteers and all of members of our Board had arrived here to prepare everything for our Christmas party. They boiled hot water for tea, delivered fruits to every guests, hanged our MSA poster on the wall. Everything went well. It’s 9 am as music being played, some guests were dancing beautifully. Some guests were dancing hand in hand, smiling happily. Then some of them told our director Aga that they felt very happy to recognize so many friends. They said “Though we are old, we don’t like staying home alone all day. Which makes us sad. We like to come here to celebrate with so many aged friends.”

At party all guests had delicious food, played lottery games and got gifts for each one. This was an amazing Christmas party. They said they were willing to attend such activities.Every one at party had a happy day and the Christmas party ended in warm and melodious music.

Thank you for all volunteers and friends again. Merry Christmas!

NSW MSA Seniors Week Event

  • 9/4/2016 Seniors Week event held at Auburn Town Hall

Here  is the link of the video taken on that day :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSme80bV13w

A NSW Multicultural Seniors Association Inc. Seniors Week event was successfully held at Auburn Town Hall on 9th April 2016. About 200 people attended the event.

This gathering was made possible mainly through the incredible efforts of NSW MSA President, Ms Yinlan Ge and her hard-working fellow executives. This Seniors Week event brought members together to develop our sense of community, to understand better how our association works and also to enjoy ourselves. We all work together to make our communities better places to live in. This is what we believe in.

At the event we had two honourable guest speakers – Le Lam JP, Emeritus Mayor of Auburn, and the Cabramatta State Member Nick Lalich. They both gave speeches, where they expressed congratulations and gave full affirmation and praise to our community and to our president Yinlan Ge.

President Yinlan Ge made two special awards to two people who have been special friends of the Association for many years. Ms Elizabeth Ding and Dr. Ernest Chan have given their support in a most generous way. The certificates that our president presented to them are marks of our respect and our way of saying “thank you”.

Our gratitude to Ms Huang, the conductor of Australia Chinese Glee and her musical team for bringing  much enjoyment to the event – continuing up until lunch time.

Last but not the least, we should give big thanks to our dedicated volunteers who made this event so successful.

  • Mr and Mrs Lu made Chinese Xinjiang traditional Lamb Pilaf, Xibei mixed jellyfish and marinated cold bean paste
  • Auntie Jin and her team made chicken and mushroom rice, stir-fried vegetable and rice, and salad
  • Mr Shang and Mr Dou both decorated the venue
  • Mr Shang managed the sound systems and the stage

2016 Seniors Week Award

On 5th April 2016 the President of NSWMSA, Ms Yin Lan Ge received a Seniors Week Award from Auburn City Council acknowledging her service to the Auburn City Community.

Congratulations to our President, Ms Yin Lan Ge !
