Volunteer Team of the Year Award of NSW Multicultural Seniors Association
Inner West outstanding volunteers off to 2019 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards final.
Volunteers from across Sydney’s Inner West were today recognized for their outstanding contribution to volunteering at a special ceremony in Burwood. The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards is an annual program run by The Centre for Volunteering.
The 2019 NSW Volunteer of
the Year Awards are supported by principal partners the Department of
Family and Community Services NSW and Clubs NSW, which represents the state’s 1,400
not-for-profit clubs.
Minister for Families, Communities and
Disability Services Gareth Ward said volunteers made an enormous contribution
to local communities. “They help to build such positive experiences and links
to services across health, education and community sectors. Our ceremony today
recognizes their work and gives us the chance to say thank you.”
The NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards is an annual program established in 2007 by The Centre for Volunteering to recognize the outstanding efforts of volunteers in NSW, and to promote the importance of volunteering to the community. The Awards are a celebration of the great Australian tradition of quietly lending a hand without asking for anything in return. They provide a unique platform for our volunteers to share their remarkable stories and for the state to formally recognize their efforts. By doing so, we send a powerful message about the value of volunteering and the contribution of our 2.1 million volunteers to help build strong, healthy and well-connected communities.
