From August 1 to August 31, the Association held a total of 47 dances in various dance halls, including 14 in the Grand Ballroom, 8 in New Vogues Dance, 4 in National Dance, 7 in Town Hall, 4 in Latin Dance, 4 in Kingsgrove, and 4 in the newly opened Burwood space.
Granville Grand Ballroom is, as always the favoured place for the dancers. Under the on-site command of President Dou and Vice President Yu, and the leadership of managers Yan Wenguang, Chen Yuru, Xiao Shumin, and Lu Anna, there was a clear division of labour between everyone, and considerate service was provided. At the same time, the presidents also listened to the suggestions of dancers, constantly receiving and arranging good dance music. With the efforts of all volunteers, dancers have always been enthusiastic and voluntarily participated, and the Grand Ballroom has always maintained a very good atmosphere.
Recently, the Multicultural Seniors Association have received good news. Under the leadership of President Ge and President Dou of MSA, the opinions of the majority of dancers were solicited about providing more benefits to middle-aged and elderly dancers, and a new dance hall was opened in Burwood Hall, where many Chinese people live in Sydney. On August 5 (Monday) from 12:45 to 3:00 pm, the first free dance party was held. Dancers came from various communities to participate. Indeed, the seats were full. Some dancers had to stand from beginning to end because there were not enough stools, but it did not affect their enthusiasm for dancing at all. President Ge personally came to the dance hall to lead everyone to dance together. President Dou, Vice President Yu and some volunteers worked in the big dance hall in the morning and eagerly participated in the dance party immediately after the work. In particular, Nina Wang, the general head of MSA Art Troupe, brought all the members of their dance troupe to actively support the Association. Another dancer quietly donated $1,000 to support the new dance hall commenced. This spirit of selfless dedication deserves praise. Everyone was united, worked together, and pulled together. Under the guidance of President Ge and President Dou, and with the active cooperation of the ballroom manager Zhang Shaofen, the volunteers did all the technical work. In the midst of the beautiful music, the dancers danced and it ended in a happy atmosphere. I hope that the middle-aged and elderly Chinese living near Burwood can come here to dance frequently in the future, combining physical exercise and dancing perfectly.
Under the careful guidance of teacher Wu Liwen, the students in the New Vogues Dance training class are still enthusiastic. Every week, Teacher Wu will prepare lessons carefully and writes the process to send to the group, so that the students can see the content of the class at a glance and can preview it by themselves. The teacher’s dedication to teaching is worth learning from, for all of us.
With the patient guidance and help of Teacher Wu and the tacit cooperation of the teaching assistants, the students have made great progress to varying degrees!
The Latin dance teaching class has been loved by many students recently. Before class every Monday afternoon, Teacher Momo carefully prepares the class and sends the class content and notifies the group. Accompanying the video, there are also text explanations of the names, requiring students to repeatedly practice basic skills and coordinate some Latin dance gestures with footwork to achieve the goal of continuous improvement. Under the dance demonstrations of Teacher Momo and the teaching assistant, the students are very determined in their learning and preparing for Latin dance performances. In addition, Teacher Momo also leads the students to actively participate in community charity performances. For example: On August 17, at the Strathfield Chinese Art Troupe Gala, the teacher personally led the class’s Latin dance group to perform. On August 23, at the Hurstville Grand Stage to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, the teacher led the class’s New Vogues Dance group to perform. On August 28, the teacher led the students to the Home Care Service Centre to perform (Latin dance ~ Rumba). This dedication to actively participate in community charity performances is worthy of praise!
Teacher Wang Shu personally led the students to practice the National Dance repeatedly, starting from the most basic movements, requiring each step to be very strong and accurate in rhythm, especially since the basic skills are very important. Teacher Wang patiently guided each student tirelessly, allowing the students to dance more accurately and beautifully in the ballroom dance!
Granville Town Hall Ballroom, under the arrangement of manager Wu Wei, volunteers worked hard and provided thoughtful service. In addition to their own duties, everyone also enthusiastically encouraged friends to participate, so that the ballroom has always maintained a good atmosphere!
Although the Kingsgrove Ballroom has just opened, with the care and support of President Ge and President Dou, there is still an endless stream of dancers who come to dance and support, especially Nina Wang, the general director of the art troupe, who basically comes every Tuesday and brings many friends to participate. With the efforts of the ballroom manager and volunteers, the activities are very good and are moving forward steadily.
