From July 1 to July 31, the dance halls of Multicultural Seniors Association held a total of 46 dance sessions, including 13 in the Grand Ballroom, 10 New Vogues Dance lessons, 5 National Dance lessons, 8 in Town Hall, 5 Latin Dance lesson, and 5 in the newly opened Kingsgrove Dance Hall.
First, let’s review the overall performance of each dance hall in July. The most gratifying thing is the Granville Grand Ballroom, which has always been a favourite place for dancers. It has convenient transportation, an excellent geographical location, with elegant and comfortable surroundings, and the newly added high and low speakers in the dance hall bring a lively rhythm! The Grand Ballroom is fully equipped with large mirrors, which helps dancers improve their dancing skills.
Especially under the personal command of President Ge, President Dou and Vice President Yu of the Multicultural Seniors Association, the volunteers, who were led by several managers, worked together to provide the best service for our middle-aged and elderly dancers.
Auburn Town Hall’s New Vogues Dance class is loved by many students, especially because of the teacher Wu, who has helped many students with no basic skills learn dozens of different New Vogues dances. She prepares her lessons carefully and makes necessary arrangements every time, giving genuine contributions to the court dance training of the MSA.
There is also an assistant teacher J&J, who quietly cooperates. When the teacher is sick and takes leave, she immediately replaces the teacher without hesitation. Under the careful guidance of these two teachers and the active cooperation of the volunteers, the dancers have practised hard and dance better and better! The two teachers have laid a solid foundation for these students to learn New Vogues dancing.
In the Latin dance teaching class, under the patient guidance of teacher Momo, the students have made rapid progress. Each time the teacher carefully prepares lessons, selects music, and sends the video of her demonstration (including text explanation) to the group after class, so that the students can continue to practice at home. The teacher’s serious and responsible attitude and the unwavering cooperation of the volunteers have been unanimously praised by the students!
Teacher Wang Shu personally led the students to practice the National dance, starting with the most basic square steps. The teacher played music while demonstrating the movements to the students, requiring the students to move on the spot and step on the rhythm accurately. Under the high standards and strict requirements of the teacher and the efforts of the volunteers, the students have made great progress to varying degrees.
In order to meet the requirements of the majority of dancers and provide better benefits, after discussion between President Ge and President Dou of the MSA, it was decided to hold a free dance party in our new dance hall at Kingsgrove Community Centre on July 2. On the first day of opening, people attended from all over. There was no empty seat in the dance hall! Many people even stood in the corridor or on the lawn, but it did not affect the enthusiasm of the dancers at all. Under the personal leadership of President Dou and Vice President Yu, the volunteers worked together and made every effort to organise and prepare. The dance ended successfully in a beautiful melody and a lively and joyful atmosphere.
Now many dance friends who live nearby came to support us, especially our dance troupe leader Nina Wang, who encourages the dance troupe members to actively participate in our charity activities. Some volunteers and dance friends also enthusiastically support and share their love. So far, we have received donations of $1,310. This kind of dedication to participating in social welfare activities is worthy of praise!
From July 10th and 11th, until the end of July, a free dance party was held at Granville Town Hall. Under the personal arrangement of President Dou and the active cooperation of volunteers, the performance was good and was loved by dance friends!
On July 10th, at the invitation of Strathfield Council, President Ge led a group of 10 members of the MSA to participate in the Strathfield Council’s 10-year creative design work plan meeting. Representatives from different nationalities offered suggestions and it ended in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere. The Australian local government meeting was aimed at soliciting and listening to the opinions and suggestions of different people. This also shows that the government cares about the people and always considers the people. It is really touching!
In each dance hall, volunteers often keep lost items for dancers.
