General Report for November 2024

From November 1st to November 30th, the dance halls of the “Multicultural Seniors Association held a total of 33 dances. Among them, the Grand Ballroom held 13 dances. 4 New Vogues Dance lessons, 4 National Dance lessons and 4 Latin Dance lessons. Auburn Town Hall Dance Hall had 4 sessions. Kingsgrove Dance Hall had 4 classes.
Granville Grand Dance Hall President Dou. Vice President Yu. Vice President Wen Guang visited the sessions every time. Vice President Zhang Xiumei also often led the team to participate in activities. The volunteers participate enthusiastically. The bright, spacious and comfortable dance hall. Let the middle-aged and elderly feel the warm and comfortable environment…

The Latin dance learning class is led by teacher Momo. The class is working on the “Eight-step Cowboy” course. The teacher demonstrated good instructions. The students learnt from each other. Everyone happily spent each day in this healthy entertainment.

On November 5, Australian SBS Chinese Channel visited President Ge Yinglan at the Cabramatta Community Centre.

On November 13, the Auburn Police Department invited the leaders of our association to participate in a coffee discussion and exchange meeting. By the way, they analyzed the local crime situation and how to work with the community. They used WeChat to establish contact. It promoted mutual communication, understanding and cooperation between the police and the public.

In mid-November, the association organized a “Day Trip to the Beach” activity that was very popular among middle-aged and elderly people.

The “Australian Russian – Chinese Friendship Association” celebrates birthdays with friends every month and it brings warmth and blessings to the group.

The “Australian Russian-China Friendship Association” Cabramatta Community Centre, these home-based elderly care services have added new activities, the activities help the elderly increase their strength, movement and dexterity. It is very popular.

This month, I would like to introduce the Jacaranda Art Team of the MSA.
The “Jacaranda Art Troupe” is a choir with a unique style that has developed and grown under the MSA, the leader is Chen Shanshan,  she is versatile and has strong organizational skills, she is both the leader and the teacher, and has been leading the team for 8 years. The team consists of more than 40 middle-aged and elderly performers. They can sing solo, with a small chorus, and large chorus. At the same time, a waist drum team of higher level was formed. Every week, the team will properly rehearse at Granville Town Hall,  learn to sing every song and beat every drum.
In recent years, the team can be seen in many communities and churches in Sydney. In particular, the “Australian National Anthem” sung in English has been sung in many corners of Sydney. It has been praised by various departments. One councillor praised: “The national anthem sung in English, with standard pronunciation and good singing, is rare in the entire Chinese community. It is a unique existence. It has really integrated into Australian life.”
The Jacaranda Art Team has also participated in various forms of social benefit performances many times this year, especially participating in church benefit performances many times, participating in the “Eastern” community benefit performances, and the major festival performances of the “Multicultural Seniors Association”. Every performance has been greeted with enthusiastic applause from the leaders and the audience.

Time flies. In the blink of an eye, we will usher in the month of Christmas. Let us march forward triumphantly under the leadership of President Ge and President Dou. Celebrate Christmas, celebrate the New Year, and live happily in the beautiful city of Sydney.
