November 2022 General Bulletin

From 1st to 30th November, the Multicultural Seniors Association Inc hosted 36 dance activities in its exclusive ballrooms. There were three free dances, and the night dances were dedicated to New Vogue lessons. Taking into account the new development in the new situation, the Association promulgated the “Code of Conduct for Volunteers of the Association” on 13 November, which includes seven articles that detail the rules of daily work and sick leave provisions in detail. Volunteers are required to enjoy and actively participate in community activities, care for the development of the Association, and contribute to its success.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, November was a good month for dance halls. The Granville Centre continues to be an excellent place for dancers to meet and enjoy themselves, not only for dancing, but also for relaxing and having fun.

Throughout the event, Auburn Town Hall remained a great venue with a positive atmosphere. Free admission to Granville Town Hall has been cancelled, and the dance floor staff is returning. She began walking the day after she was hospitalized on 26 October for a double hip replacement.

Despite being in the recovery stage after an operation, President Ge remains active in the work of the Australian Russian-Chinese Friendship Association Inc.

Dancers express their gratitude to the Multicultural Seniors Association Inc

Thank you, volunteers of the Multicultural Seniors Association Inc and Ms Wu, for teaching New Vogue!

When the epidemic was gradually opened in March 2022, Multicultural Seniors Association Inc fully opened its ballroom in accordance with government requirements. The Granville Centre, Granville Town Hall, and Auburn Town Hall were all open Monday through Friday.  The ballroom dance was popular among middle-aged and elderly people in their spare time.

All volunteers and the ballroom venue manager were responsible for their work during the event, and they sent online notifications to confirm missing items, returned them to their owners, and kept the items properly.

Ballroom venue staff have picked up wallets, cash (hundreds of dollars wrapped in paper), two mobile phones, dance shoes, clothing, vests, umbrellas, mugs, and dozens of carry-on handbags over the past few months, and dancers have commented that these ballroom venue volunteers are of high quality, trustworthy, and have a good reputation.

A lot of dancers express their gratitude verbally and in letters to the Multicultural Seniors Association Inc.

The real story that happened around us

As the 10th anniversary celebration of the “Australian Chinese Russian Friendship Association Inc” and the “Multicultural Seniors Association Inc” ended successfully on September 10. An accidental fall the following day caused President Ge to have difficulty walking. She suffers from cartilage abrasions in both hip joints. Her son immediately contacted a specialist to perform a comprehensive examination for her. It is important to come up with a plan for surgery as soon as possible.

President Ge underwent the double hip bone transplant on October 26th at the Prince of Wales Private Hospital under the supervision of the renowned specialist Dr Solomon. It was a very successful operation. A six-day hospital stay followed. She was admired by the doctors and nurses during her recovery period in the hospital. The second day of the double hip bone transplant surgery. She started getting up and exercising. You can imagine how much courage and perseverance it took. A true role model, she is a strong leader.

President Ge was transferred to Braeside Hospital for rehabilitation on November 1. She did the exercise at the rehabilitation centre according to standards without compromising. She was often praised by doctors and nurses in the rehabilitation centre.  She was approved to go home for rehabilitation on November 11.

Recently, friends, members and volunteers from the Associations who were very concerned about her recent health condition. With everyone’s concern, I made a special trip to visit President Ge at the weekend. As soon as you enter the door you can see President Ge’s mental state is very good. She can walk without a stick at home but still needs to use crutches to protect and support her body when she’s doing physical exercise. It is amazing that she has achieved this kind of recovery after just four weeks of surgery. She is really a strong woman who does not give up in the face of illness. A beautiful, kind and strong woman who blossomed like a flower in my heart.

Now I wish you all peace! In the end, President Ge would like to express her heartfelt thanks to all those who have helped her and to her friends and family who care about her.
